Bangladesh squad announced for India Test
Shariful is out, the new face is Zaker.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the 16-member squad for the two-Test series to tour India. Wicketkeeper batsman Zaker Ali got a place as a new face in this team with Nazmul Hossain Shanto as the captain.
Zaker played an innings of 172 runs with 17 fours and 5 sixes for Bangladesh 'A' team against Pakistan 'A' team in Islamabad three weeks ago. In total he played 7 first class matches for Bangladesh 'A' team with an average of 52.87.
There are now four pacers in the squad as Shariful is not on the tour of India. All-rounders Shakib Al Hasan and Mehdi Hasan Miraj along with the four spinners on the tour of Pakistan are also on the tour of India as usual. And top-order batsman Mahmudul Hasan Joy, who is unable to play due to injury, is also on the tour of India.
Bangladesh has not yet tasted victory after playing 13 Tests against India. 11 losses and only two draws. Both those draws were courtesy of rain.
The Bangladesh team will tour India on September 15 to play a two-match Test series and three T20Is. The first Test will begin on September 19 in Chennai. Then the second Test will start on September 27 in Kanpur.
